Plant Sterols

What are plant sterols?
Our natural plant sterols block the absorption of dietary
cholesterol in the body. Also known as phytosterols, the ‘plant’ in plant
sterols refers to the fact they come from fruit, vegetables, grains, nuts and
seeds; while the ‘sterols’ indicates that they are similar in structure to the
cholesterol found in our own bodies.
Plant
Sterols help to lower the “bad cholesterol”, known as LDL (low-density lipoprotein),
by competing with it for absorption in the intestines.
Why choose Healthspan’s Plant Sterols 800 mg tablets?
Due to the similarity
to cholesterol, these plant sterols tablets can stop the cholesterol in the
things you eat being absorbed in the small intestine. As a result, plant
sterols can keep your cholesterol levels at a normal level, or even better,
help lower your blood cholesterol and therefore reduce the risk in the
development of coronary heart disease.
By taking our
Plant Sterols tablets, you can get your recommended daily intake without the added
calories of fat found in sterol-enriched margarine of dairy produce. What’s
more, they represent a natural way to manage your cholesterol, without any nasty side effects. In order to obtain the beneficial effect of lowering blood
cholesterol our experts recommend taking three tablets daily, providing 2400 mg
plant sterols (as well as high levels of the active molecules
‘beta−sitosterols’).
